Governor Inaugurates New Academic Block at SMVDU
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
University has started two new full time courses of
Masters in English and Master of Technology from the
current academic session besides various other Research,
Development and Consultancy Projects.
Chairing the Twelfth Executive Council meeting of the University this morning, the
Governor, N N Vohra, appreciated the academic odyssey of the Varsity and hoped that it
will touch new pinnacles of excellence in the years to come.

Mr Vohra
discussed the academic plan of the University and said that
it is emerging as a hub of higher technical education
especially in Engineering and Management.The Governor complemented the Vice Chancellor, Prof N K
Bansal, the Faculty and the members of the staff for their
devotion in steering the University to progress and building
up impressive infrastructure development. He noted with
satisfaction that the roll of the
University has now touched the 1100 mark.Prof Bansal gave a
resume of the academic and extra-curricular activities
undertakenduring the past four years and dwelt on the future plans of
the University.Among
others, the Council meeting was attended by the Vice
Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Principal Secretary to

Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education, K M Wani,
Managing Director of NIIT, Rajendra Pawar, Professor R S
Misra, Professor M L Garg, Professor V V Verma,
Professor J P Singh and Professor Mukhopadhyaya. Earlier, the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the
University, inaugurated the New Academic Building of the
University located on its beautiful campus at Kakryal.
The building will house the Schools of Architecture,
Computer Sciences and Engineering,Communication and
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and the School of
Biotechnology.
Mr Vohra visited an exhibition put up by the students of Architecture displaying their
work on various types of buildings, clay modelling, artistic expressions etc.
The Governor also inaugurated a bio-informatics facility created with the help of the
Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
Later, the Governor visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan and participated in Puran
Ahuti of Mahayagya, which began amid Vedic Mantras on the First Navratra. He prayed
for peace and tranquillity in the State.
