SMVDU
launches innovative cost effective electricity project
In the wake of roaring energy charges and scarce power
availability in Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
University has pioneered an innovative energy efficient
project to bring down the load from 214 KWs to 81 KWs in the
campus thus saving Rs 14.50 lakhs annually.
The innovative project has been conceived by Vice
Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof N K Bansal, himself a renowned
energy scientist, and has been implemented in collaboration
with a reputed national firm in the mega varsity campus.
Under the project, 155 W street lights have been replaced by
57 W lights, FTL fixtures of 52 W have been replaced by 28
W FTL
fixtures and 60
W GLS
lamps have been replaced by 8
W GLS
lamps. The total cost of the project is Rs. 21.91 Lacs,
which is to be paid in 24 equal installments, in a deferred
payment contract signed by the University with the supplier thus
making the project financially profitable right from the
start.
A
spokesman of the University said the connected electrical
lighting load of the University has been reduced from 214 KW
to 81 KW resulting in annual saving of Rs. 14.5 Lakhs,
calculated @ Rs. 3.0 per KWh.
