Prof. Prajneshu Ex Head of Division ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistical Research Institute delivered special lectures for Department of Economics (DoE) and Department of Mathematics (DoM) on 27th February, 2017 at SMVDU campus. The distinguish Prof. deliver his lecture in two sessions. His first lecture was on nonlinear growth models & their applications, where he discussed various types’ nonlinear growth models like monomolecular growth model, logistic growth model, gompertz model etc. He also discussed the problem with over-fitting of linear model. His second lecture was on fitting of non-linear time series model and its inability to forecast. He discussed the entire evolutionary trend of methodological development of non-linear models and showed how the most advanced version of nonlinear time series model like E-GARCH and F-GARCH etc fit the data and make robust. The lectures were highly interactive and informative. Students and faculty members were immensely benefitted from the lectures as well as from the interaction with him. At the end of the sessions, as a token of appreciation and respect a memento was handed over to Prof Prajneshu by Prof D Mukhopadhyay, Dean FoM . The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Kirtti Ranjan from DoE and Dr. A. Das from DoM.
