SMVDU Students visited Science Express at Katra

SMVDU Katra: Around 250 students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, mainly from Bachelor of Architecture, Energy Management, Mathematics, Biotechnology and Physics visited the Science Express at Katra on 2nd March. Science Express is an innovative mobile science exhibition of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, mounted on a 16 coach AC train. With the objective of arousing interest of the young people in the field of science and technology, the exhibition on wheels – Science Express, was launched from Delhi Safdarjung Railway station on October 30, 2007, which was stationed at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station yesterday. It is a mega outreach program of DST, Govt. of India and is being managed by Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC), since its inception in 2007.

The students had a chance to get exposed to the emergent issues in the fields of Ecosystem, Global Warming, Wildlife Conservation, Biotechnology, Indian inventions in Biotechnology, Reuse and Recycle Technology, Coral Reef, Aquatic Life, Jurassic Life, Solar and other Non-conventional Energy. Students interacted with the scientists and demonstrators over there. This was an unprecedented opportunity for students to learn about current concerns and engagement of Indian scientists and also a source of inspiration to study and research in science. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain congratulated all the participating students.
