LABORATORY INFRASTRUCTURE
State of art research
laboratories and teaching facilities are important features of
the school so that the students have a hands-on experience of
all the modern spheres of biotechnology. Initially, the school
is having five laboratories.

Microbiology Laboratory
Work involving isolation, purification, characterization and
identification of microorganisms, microbial production of
industrial products, optimization of fermentation process,
strain improvement etc. are conducted. |
|

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology laboratory
DNA isolation, purification, construction of recombinant
molecules, transformation, cloning, gene isolation, PCR
amplification, identification and expression are regularly
conducted in this laboratory. |
|

Chemistry Laboratory (I and II)
Studies on natural and synthetic bioactive molecules involving
their synthesis/isolation, purification, characterization and
identification using chromatography, IR, mass spectra, NMR are
routinely carried out. |
|

General Biotechnology Laboratory
In this laboratory practicals concerning basic genetics,
biochemistry, microbiology and general biology are conducted. |
|

Sr. Microbiology Laboratory
In
this laboratory basic microbiology practical are conducted such
as identification of strains, primary screening ,secondary
screening of molecules. |
|

Sr. Molecular Biology Laboratory
The techniques covered in this lab include DNA isolation,
Agarose gel electrophoresis, Bacterial transformation,
Polymerase chain reaction, Restriction digest analysis, Gene
cloning and Heterologous expression. Protein isolation ,
purification and Profiling is also being carried out in this
lab. The work done includes exploring the microbial diversity
for novel industrial enzymes using Culture dependent and
Metagenomic tools. |

Bio-Informatics Lab.
The centre is equipped with state-of-art softwares and other
infrastructure required for advanced genomics and proteomics
work. |

Tissue Culture Lab.
This laboratory is created for conducting experimentations in
Plant Tissue Culture Techniques: Morphogenesis, Regeneration
via different developmental pathways, cell suspension
cultures, protoplast isolation and culture, and hardening of
tissue cultured plants. Experiments are in progress for
developing micropropagation systems for mass multiplication of
Medicinal and Aromatic plants and enhancement of Secondary
Metabolites in vitro in selected Medicinal Plants |

Cold Room
Cold room used for preservation of cultures and chemicals in
the school of Biotechnology. |
