ASSISTANTSHIP PROGRAMME
The University Offers two types of
assistantship programme to its students with the twin objective
of encouraging the meritorious students and to inculcate
in them a professional work culture.
Student
Assistantship Programme
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
University (SMVDU) has initiated Student Assistantship Programme
(SAP) to inculcate work culture and competitive spirit among the
students. SAP has been launched for the first time in the state
of Jammu & Kashmir by any University at this scale. Under SAP
the University provides financial assistance in terms of
semester tuition fee waiver, ranging from 10% to 90% on the
basis of merit during the semester to the top 10% meritorious
students in various professional disciplines.
The programme
aims at preparing students for the challenges of the job market
by generating academic competition and inculcates work culture
at the same time. The selected candidates have to put in 10
hours of work in the chosen sphere weekly or 140 hours per
semester as per the jobs assigned by Dean/Directors of various
Colleges/Schools of the University. The programme is valid for
one semester only and the student will have to remain in the top
10% in order to be eligible for receiving the same in the next
semester. The programme is a continuous feature of the varsity's
academic curriculum. The awardees have to maintain highest
cumulative grade point average (CGPA) besides no loss of the
registered credits to receive the benefits of the scheme on a
continuous basis. From the ensuing academic year 10% students in
each class shall be eligible to receive the benefits of SAP as
compared to present 5%.
That SAP shall be awarded to
top 10% meritorious students as per the following scheme:
For a class strength
of 55 to 60 students = 6 students
For a class strength
of 45 to 54 students = 5 students
For a class strength
of 35 to 44 students = 4 student
For a class strength
of 25 to 34 students = 3 student
For a class strength
of 15 to 24 students = 2 student
For a class strength
of 10 to 14 students = 1 student
SAP shall not be awarded for
class strength of less than ten students
Every student covered under
this scheme shall be given semester tuition fee waiver of the
annual tuition fee for the semester concerned in the following
manner:
For class strength of 60
students the following scheme shall be followed:
First =
waiver of 90 % of the semester tuition fee
Second =
waiver of 70 % of the semester tuition fee
Third =
waiver of 50 % of the semester tuition fee
Fourth =
waiver of 30 % of the semester tuition fee
Fifth =
waiver of 20 % of the semester tuition fee
Sixth =
waiver of 10 % of the semester tuition fee
