Dr. Amitabh Vikram Dwivedi, Faculty, School of Languages & Literature, delivered a keynote address on "Critical Study Skills for Academic Writing" at the 2nd International Conference on Multidisciplinary and Current Educational Research, Thailand on 19 May 2022.

18082021 RaviDr. Ravi Parihar, Faculty, School of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, completed an Online MOOC Course of six week duration, titled "Miracles of Human Language: An Introduction to Linguistics" offered by the Centre for Linguistics, Leiden University, Netherlands.

Dr. Parihar learnt about the foreign languages such as Mandarin Chinese, Tarifit Berber, Gungbe (a Nigerian language), Basque, Abruzzese (spoken in Southern Italy), and Turkish.The course on the aforesaid languages was a great opportunity for updating the linguistic knowledge, said Dr. Parihar.

She has worked on the topic, titled “Human-Nature Affinities in Selected Indian Novels: An Ecocritical Perspective” under the supervision of Dr. Amitabh V. 18112020 amitabhSMVDU Katra. In an international award ceremony-Sledding 2021, organized by Princeton Hive and Educos Unite of scholars, Dr Amitabh V. Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been awarded the Best Speaker Award in recognition and contribution for being a marvellous speaker.

Mr David McDermott, Director, Princeton Hive and Dr Ratish Gupta, Director, Educos Unite of Scholars, appreciated his talk on New Education Policy-2020, and also praised him for his contribution to academia during the pandemic. They said that his talks will help developing language skills, and literary & research aptitude amongst the scholars.

From the last year, Dr Dwivedi has delivered more than 100 keynote addresses and invited talks in various reputed national and international events. As a Co-Director, he has also submitted an ICSSR project on lesser-known languages of JK, such as Bhadarwahi, Sarazi, Bhalesi, Punchi, Gojri, etc.

Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered a keynote address on “Communication Studies in a Digital Age: What does it mean to read?” at the International Specialist’s Conference on Digital Campus Journalism and Communication Studies, with the theme “From Now to Future: Digitalizing Communication and Journalism in Sensitizing Global Crisis” (28th to 31st January 2022), organized by the International Association of English Language Teachers, Thailand.

Dr. Dwivedi’s talk raises some important questions: what do readers reveal about their attitudes toward reading in print versus on-screen, and how much do readers comprehend and remember when they read in each medium? Dr. Dwivedi said, that readers, both students and teachers, approach a digital text with a different mindset, and that leads them to pay less attention. The mind of a reader must be trained to use digital technology effectively so that they may not face a lack of concentration.Further, he said that online technology should be used for both finding information and for contemplating and understanding serious topics. The organizers, Dr. Rommel Tabula and KOG Casimiro, thanked Dr. Dwivedi for sharing his knowledge.

Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has delivered a special lecture on “Language Revitalization of Lesser-Known Languages & Cultures of Jammu & Kashmir” during one day webinar organized under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” by MV Muthiah Government Arts College for Women, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.

Dr Dwivedi is a field linguist, and he has previously documented lesser-known languages of Jammu & Kashmir, including Sarazi, Bhadarwahi, dialects of Dogri, and others. The books have been published in Munich, Germany. And the UNESCO official website mentions two of his works on Bhadarwahi at its official website.The convenor, Dr Sumathi, thanked Dr Dwivedi for sharing his research. The participants found the lecture quite inspiring, content-rich and informative.

Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi, Faculty Member, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, has been conferred with the iconic teacher, and research & education consultant awards by the prestigious International Society of Teachers, Administrators and Researchers, Inc. (ISTAR), Philippines.The awards were conferred to Dr. Dwivedi in recognition of his exceptional services in providing consultancy to educational leaders and managers, and exemplary performance in implementing academic intervention programs and in shaping his constituents’ career paths making him an iconic model of education consultants in his home country and beyond borders.

Dr. Dwivedi thanked President and Founder, ISTAR, Dr. Rommel V. Tabula and Dr. Sawitri Suwanaroa, Exectutive Vice President, ISTAR, for this honor. He also expressed his gratitude to SMVD University administration, cheifly Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. RK Sinha and Registrar Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal for the guidance and support.Dr. Dwivedi has dedicated this award to his family, students and colleagues.

08052021 raviDr Ravi Parihar, Faculty SMVDU, delivered a talk on “The Practices of Language Documentation” at IIT Madras, while emphasizing lesser-known languages of Jammu and Kashmir, such as Saroori; Bhalesi; Sarazi, and its dialects Bhagwali & Korarwali and Khashali at AICTE sponsored one-week short term training program on “Language, Culture, and Cognition”, organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras. His views on language revitalization were greatly appreciated by the audience.

Many researchers across the globe participated, and twenty lectures were delivered by language experts. Dr. Parihar actively participated in the program and updated his knowledge in different areas of Filed Linguistics.

Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vasihno Devi University, Katra, discussed language documentation methods used in documenting lesser-known languages of Jammu & Kashmir, such as Bhadarwahi, Sarazi, Dogri, etc. at an international conference, organized by Lyceum Northwestern University & International Educators’ Forum on Language Teacher Education, Dagupan City, Philippines.

Dr. Dwivedi gave a presentation on “Descriptive Linguistic Fieldwork: Language Revitalization of lesser known languages & cultures” under the theme, “Revisiting the Breadth and Depth of Philippine Ethnic Histories, Ethnolinguistics and Lexicography” where he discussed his descriptive linguistic fieldwork experiences in documenting Bhadarwahi, Sarazi and Dogri languages, while illustrating the relationship between documentary & descriptive goals of fieldwork, and highlighting the geographical areas of languages of Jammu & Kashmir. His presentation was greatly appreciated by the participants, and the Chairperson, Mr. Alexander G. Julio, and Convener, Dr. Maria Madrid, thanked him for sharing his knowledge.

Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered an invited talk on “NEP-2020 in India: Issues Concerning Multilingualism & Teaching Methods” in a weeklong (27th Sept.-02 Oct. 2021) UGC workshop on NEP-2020: Excellence in Higher Education”, organized by UGC-HRDC, Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Dr. Dwivedi talked about how Indian multilingualism is to be seen as multi-competencies, and how it can be utilized by teachers in their classrooms. He also discussed how the teaching approach can supplement teaching methods and the role of gamification in teaching. Dr. Dwivedi’s talk was followed up by a Q&P session, in which the participants clarified their doubts.Prof. Rajesh K. Dubey, Director, UGC-HRDC, Jodhpur thanked Dr. Dwivedi for sharing his knowledge and hoped for more academic and professional associations. Dr. Vibha Bhoot, Coordinator of the event expressed his gratitude to Dr. Dwivedi.

Dr. Amitabh Vikram Dwivedi of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has been awarded with the “Best Digital teacher Award” in an award ceremony SHADOW 2021, where participants of 35 nationalities participated and witnessed the event, organized by Edukos Unite of Scholars, a unit of Radhika Foundation.

This award is presented to Dr. Dwivedi for integration of virtual phrases during Pandemic by his skills to motivate students. National Digital Library of India (NDLI), Ministry of Education, India features his 19 lectures in the public domain. Also, the UNESCO Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger refers to his two works on the Bhadarwahi language at its official website. Dr Dwivedi regularly uploads his videos on his YouTube channel, and conducts online sessions to support students of languages and literature. Dr. Dwivedi extends his thanks to Dr. Ratish Gupta, Director, Radhika Foundation, for this honor.

Dwivedi, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered an invited talk on “Interpreting Literary Text: Application of Linguistics to Literary Analysis” in a seven-day Mentorship Programme for Faculty Development, organized by Jaipur National University. The programme received a huge participation from 23 countries.

Dr. Dwivedi talked about how the knowledge of linguistics is useful in interpreting a literary text. He also discussed how one can read critically, and what is the role of context in literary analysis. Dr. Dwivedi’s talk was followed up by a Q&P session, in which the participants clarified their doubts. Prof. KK Gautam, Convener of the Programme, thanked Dr. Dwivedi for sharing his knowledge. Dr. Rana Zaidi, Co-convener, expressed that Dr. Dwivedi’s session was not only informative and knowledgeable, but it will also motivate young teachers.

Dwivedi, Faculty, School of Languages & Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, delivered an invited talk on “Principles & Approaches in Second Language Reading”, organized by the Dept. of Education, School Divisions Office, Navotas City, Republic of Philippines.

The theme of the virtual expo was to bridge the pandemic gap in reading and literacy through quality school based interventions and innovations in distance learning. Dr. Dwivedi discussed the techniques to teach reading skills, such as extensive and intensive reading texts, while highlighting the folded paper approach and fog gunning readability test. The Superintendent, Alejandro G. Ibanez Ceso VI, Office of the Schools Division, thanked Dr. Dwivedi for showcasing the best practices in promoting reading/literacy in distance learning.

27092021 RaviDr. Ravi Parihar of SMVDU presented a research paper titled "On the Syntactic Agreement in the Indo-Aryan languages" at the 5th International Seminar on Linguistics held by the Faculty of Humanities, Andalas University, Indonesia.

In his presentation, Dr. Parihar laid emphasis on languages such as, Hindi, Sarazi, Bhadarwahi and Saroori. Briefly, he reported that there is Subject-Verb- Agreement in Hindi & Bhadarwahi; whereas, Sarazi and Saroori exhibited Subject-Auxiliary agreement, where main verb doesn't show agreement.

Dr. Parihar is making his efforts in revitalising the regional languages of Jammu & Kashmir, following National Education Policy, 2020. He thanked the organising members of the International Seminar.
