SMVDU Planning to organize FDP-cum-Textual Workshop on Vedanta

SMVDU Katra, May 2019. The School of Philosophy & Culture at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra (Jammu & Kashmir), is organizing ten-day FDP-cum-Textual Workshop on Śāṁkara Vedānta (Level-1) from 20th – 30th May 2019. The workshop is sponsored by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi. The program is open for the faculty members of higher education institutions, students and common learners and the last date for the application is 10th May 2019. The text chosen for the study is titled Vedāntasaṅgraha authored by Bellamkonda Ramaraya (1875-1914). Ramaraya is one of the most brilliant expositors of the Advaita tradition from Andhra Pradesh. The ingenuity of the text lies in its comprehensive presentation of the Advaita Philosophy in a lucid Sanskrit. The resource persons of the workshop are Prof. V.N. Jha and Prof. Ujjwala Jha, Former Directors of the Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit, University of Pune. Both are learned scholars of Indian philosophy and Sanskrit and are dedicated to spread the message of the Indian intellectual tradition.
