SMVDU Faculty Members Participated in the Reading of the Preamble of the Constitution of India on Thu 26 Nov 2020 11am - 11:30am (IST) through Google Meet

The reading of the Preamble (in Hindi & English) of the Constitution of India was conducted via Google Meet on Thu 26 Nov 2020 11am - 11:30am (IST) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, where the faculty members participated enthusiastically.

Dr. Anil K. Tewari, Head, School of Philosophy & Culture, and the organizer of this event thanked all the participants.

One week (November 23-27,, 2020) online course Short Term Course on “Introduction of CFD Problems on Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer” was inaugurated today here at SMVD University through a virtual platform.

The course was organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU, and was coordinated by Dr. Sanjay Sharma & Er. Varun Dutta, Assistant Professor.

The course has received an enormous response from the faculty, scholar & industry personnel from India & abroad. More than 40% of participants are registered from countries like Singapore, UAE, Malta (Europe), and Bangladesh. The course also covers participation from industries like ABB, Chemi Tech, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, and others.

Prof. Eswaramoorthy Muthusamy, Registrar, SMVDU, graced the occasion by speaking on the importance of this course & encouraged the participants to get benefited from it.

The course consists of hands-on training sessions with computational tools such as Ansys, Open-Foam, etc., from prominent speakers from reputed institutions such as Rolls Royce’s University Technological Centre, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, & NIT Manipur.

The Dean of Students, Dr. Balbir Singh, and HoD, School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU, also spoke on the occasion and wished that the researchers and students would be benefitted by enhancing their knowledge in the field of modelling and simulation.

The proceeding of the inauguration was carried out by Er. Varun Dutta, Faculty, School of Mechanical Engg., SMVDU.

Katra: A 3- Day long Virtual International Tribology Research Symposium on the theme “Impact of Tribology on Society” was concluded successfully at SMVDU. The event was being jointly organized by School of Mechanical Engineering SMVD University, Centre for Advanced Studies, Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow and SRM University Chennai. As per the report presented in the valedictory function a total of 7 keynote lectures and 21 invited talks were delivered by eminent international speakers. Further, in the 21 parallel sessions a total of around 150 papers were presented. The event saw a participation from countries such as USA, Mexico, Japan, UK, Italy, France, Malaysia, Hungary, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia etc, besides participants from India. The event also hosted an Industrial Meet wherein the sponsors such as DUCOM Industries, Apar Industries, Shreenath Engineering Industries, CAD MECH, BHEL, KISTLER, etc. also showcased their technologies to the global audience. Prof. Manish Gaur (Director CAS-AKTU Lucknow), the chief guest at valedictory function lauded the efforts put in by the three premier universities of the country particularly the organizing committee members. Prof. Manish also asserted that collaborative research is the future and asserted that more such collaborative events should be organized in near future for the benefit of the young research community. The event was jointly organized by Dr. Jitendra Kumar Katiyar (SRMIST), Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq (SMVDU), and Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma(CAS-AKTU), Prof. TVVLN Rao (SRMIST), Dr. Ankush Raina (SMVDU) and Dr. Rabesh Kumar Singh (CAS-AKTU), Dr. Ankush Anand (SMVDU), Dr. Sanjay Mohan Sharma(SMVDU), Mr. P. Baskara Sethupathi (SRMIST) and Dr. Srihari Dodla (SRMIST). Pertinently, the event was featured by the eminent global tribology societies such as World Tribology Council, Tribology Society of India, Malaysian Tribology Society, Japanese Society of tribology, UK Tribology Society, International Tribology Council and German Tribology Society. The organizing committee expressed their gratitude to the administration of SMVDU, AKTU and SRM for their support.

Prof. R.S. Misra, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, SMVDU, was the special invitee on the day. On this occasion, the School organized a discussion on the ideas of Socrates’ grand disciple Aristotle (c. 384–322 BCE). Dr. Anil Tewari, Head of the School, welcomed all the invitees and participants.

The discuss was initiated by Sh. Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Asst. Prof., School of Philosophy & Culture. The participants of the discussion included Prof. Misra, Dr. Tewari, Dr. M.M. Chaturvedi, Dr. Simran Raina, and a B. Tech student Ms. Sagun Gupta. The other participants belonged to various Schools of the University.

It is conspicuous that in the Year 2002, the UNESCO declared that every 3rd Thursday of November month be celebrated as World Philosophy Day.

The day is speculative birth anniversary of the Greek philosopher Socrates (c. 470 – 399 BCE).

The event continued from 19:30 – 21:30 and concluded with a vote of thanks.

The event is being jointly organized by School of Mechanical Engineering SMVD University, Centre for Advanced Studies, Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow and SRM University Chennai. The prominent guests who spoke on the inaugural function include Prof. Manish Gaur (Director CAS-AKTU Lucknow), Dr. Ashok Mehta (Executive Director, Tribology Society of India), Prof. Satish V. Kailas, IISc Bangalore (Vice President, Tribology Society of India), Prof. Salmiah Kasolang, Rektor, Universiti Teknologi Mara (President, Malaysian Tribology Society), Prof. Ali Erdemir (Texas A&M University). Prof. Sandeep Sancheti(Vice Chancellor, SRMIST) graced the occasion and spoke about the importance of tribology, its interdisciplinarity and its role in making the planet greener and cleaner. As briefed by the conveners of the conference Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma (CAS AKTU Lucknow) and Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq (SMVDU) the symposium shall host 07 keynote lectures, 18 invited talks and 21 parallel sessions in which around 220 papers shall be presented. Moreover, the event shall see a global participation from countries such as USA, Mexico, Japan, UK, Italy, France, Malaysia, Hungary, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia etc., besides scholars and experts from institutes of national importance such as IISc Bangalore, IITs, NITs, Premier Research Labs. and industries. Selected papers presented in the symposium shall be published in 5 Special Issues and 4 Regular Issues in Reputed SCI/Scopus Journals like Tribology International, Tribology Transactions, Tribology Online, Tribology Materials Surfaces and interfaces. The event was featured by the eminent global tribology societies such as World Tribology Council, Tribology Society of India, Malaysian Tribology Society, Japanese Society of tribology, UK Tribology Society, International Tribology Council and German Tribology Society.

The Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof Eswaramoorthy Muthuswamy and Head, School of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. R K Mishra, lauded the efforts put in by the organisers to arrange such an event at the international level in the pandemic times.

Dr. Jitendra Kumar Katiyar, Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, and Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma are the conveners while Prof. TVVLN Rao, Dr. Ankush Raina and Dr. Rabesh Kumar Singh are the co-convenors of the event. Dr. Ankush Anand(SMVDU), Dr. Sanjay Mohan Sharma(SMVDU), Mr. P. Baskara Sethupathi (SRMIST) and Dr. Srihari Dodla (SRMIST) are the organizing secretaries of the symposium.
