The School of Business, SMVD University organized a National Training Program (in virtual mode) on ‘Embedding Positivity Workplace’ for Indian Forest Service Officers with the financial support from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India.

During the inaugural function, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Program Coordinator, highlighted the contagious role of attitude and its relevance for defining success in one’s life and on colleagues and other people around. Dr. Sharma accentuated that the present training aims to facilitate the officers to equip themselves with the various constituencies of positive attitude which may act as a catalyst in embedding positivity at workplace. She also brought to light that the present training program is 11th in the series with the funding of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI.

Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business, while extending formal welcome to all the officers opined that current unprecedented dynamics has forced the individuals to think in different and innovative way. He mentioned that it has highlighted one important fact that individuals race has unlimited capabilities and abilities to win over any challenges. He also introduced the Universityto all the officers and stated that how University is trying to align with the dynamics of current time requirements.

Dr. Suparn Kr. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Management, highlighted the success of different training programs which has been organised by School of Business, SMVDU, with the funding of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI. He emphasised that learning and experience of present era explicates that development has to be with human face.Prof. Ashok Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, highlighted the present experience how the role of forests officers assumes more importance in conservation of forests and consequently environment. Prof. V.K. Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, emphasized the preservation and conservation of forests for human sustenance.

Chief Guest, Padam Shri Prof. Ravindra K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU narrated the forests officers as survivors and highlighted that how compliance with laws of nature is necessary forsurvival of human race. He enlightened regarding the various challenges faced by forests officers regarding conservation of forests and environment. He stated that without positivity, conservation of resources is not possible. He wished the officers a happy and productive learning in this celebrated training program. IFS officers from different parts of the country including Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Orissa, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar etc. participated in this grand training program.

Dr. Ashutosh, Associate Professor and Member, Organizing Committee, offered a Formal vote of thanks and expressed gratitude towards the Registrar, SMVDU, administration and Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI, for providing resources for the smooth conduction of the program. The Vice Chancellor SMVDU Padma Shri Prof. R.K. Sinha along with the First lady of the University released the book titled ‘The Byzantine Jewels: Heart of Bellaridon’ authored by the young resident of SMVD University Campus Ishani Lal. She is the student of class X and is pursuing her studies from DPS, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Campus Katra, J&K.

While explaining about the book Ms. Ishani Lal expressed her gratitude towards the tranquil and academic environment of SMVDU that has been helpful in developing her cognitive and literary skills and motivated her to start writing at an early stage.The book is a fiction novel which has the slice of life and thrill based experience of five friends a magic learning academy. It navigates through the distinct personalities and powers of the young friends who have to learn to work with each other and be a collective in solving a challenge.

Prof. Sinha, in his speech congratulated and praised the young author for being able to publish a book at a tender age. He said that the parents and teachers must identify the talent of the kids and allow them to pursue their talents. They must guide them and nurture the talent. He expressed that the learning environment of SMVDU campus and its residents has been a motivation for the young generation to cultivate their aspirations. He congratulated the parents and teachers of Ishani Lal who have supported her to achieve this milestone.

Ms. Ishani Las is single daughter of Dr. Saurabh, a faculty member of SMVDU and Dr. Rajsri who is an independent researcher. The event was attended by Ms. Uma Kumari, first lady of the University and distinguished guests from in and outside SMVDU. ICMR-CAR, School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University-a multinsitutional centre (University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, University of Kashmir) started four-week online capacity building training programme from 4th January 2021 to 6th Feb 2021. The main goal of this program is to draw kind attention towards the fact that reproductive health issues like Infertility, PCOS, Gynaecological and Urological Problems are increasing alarmingly in Jammu and Kashmir.

Online lecture and training sessions about emerging reproductive health problems faced by patients from UT of Jammu and Kashmir were deliberated by various Faculties like Prof. Rima Dada from AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Sharada M Potukuchi and Dr. Sandeep Bhougal from SMVDU, Dr. Arnab Banerje from BITS, Pilani. In addition, Dr. Chitra Pahwa, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Archana Bhat, Ms. Pushpa Oraon, Dr. Rakesh Raina, Dr. Audesh Bhat, Dr. Ruchi Shah and Dr. Amrita Bhat also threw light on various issues related to reproductive health. They also stressed on continued evaluation of metabolic disorder and its impact upon perinatal and maternal care and outcomes. Prof. Dada’s talk on Yoga and Dr. Raina’s lecture on oral pathology and male reproductive health were interesting and opened all new areas of research in the field.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar acknowledged the staff of (ICMR-CAR) Dr. Sonali Verma (Scientist B), Dr. Gresh Chander (Scientist B), Ms. Deepika, Ms. Shrutika, Mrs Namrata and Mr. Rajeshwar for being backbone of lab and appreciated their skills in organising of this programme. More than 200 participants from various colleges and hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir registered for same. Despite bad weather and sloppy internet connection, participants were enthusiastic and fully participated in the programme.

The second week of the programme will start from 18th Jan 21. Dr. Kumar in the concluding session thanked principal investigators of the centre and expressed his gratitude to Prof. R.K Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, for his continuous support and motivation

Cognizant, an American multinational corporation, conducted an online campus recruitment process for the passing out Engineering students (2021) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The virtual campus process began in October 2020 with students online registration.

The company offered an annual salary package of 4-6.5 Lac/annum, and it deals with digital products, digital IT services, including digital, technology, consulting, and operations services.

Mr. B. K. Bhatia, Placement Officer, informed that the whole selection process consisting of an online test, technical interviews and HR interviews was spread over about three months, and finally the Cognizant Recruitment Team declared 24 students (Computer-10, Electronics-12, Mechanical-02) of SMVDU selected for the Job Offer.

Wipro conducted an online campus recruitment process for the Engineering students of the Batch 2017-21 of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). The Virtual Camus Process began in October 2020 with students online registration.

Mr. B. K. Bhatia, the Placement Officer, informed that the whole selection process included the online test, technical interviews and HR interviews which spread over about three months, and finally Wipro selected 23 students (Computer-10, Electronics-11, Mechanical-02) of SMVDU for the Job Offer.

12th January, the Birth Anniversary of the Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) is celebrated as National Youth Day. In the year 1984, the Union Government of India declared his birthday to be celebrated as National Youth Day (राष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस). Theme for the celebration of the 158th Anniversary this year is “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building”.

On this occasion, the School of Philosophy & Culture (SoPC) has organized a Webinar on the topic Swami Vivekananda’s Ideas on Education and the New Education Policy 2020 of Bharat (शिक्षा पर स्वामी विवेकानन्द के विचार और भारत की नई शिक्षा नीति 2020). The speakers included Dr. Anil Tewari, Head, SoPC, Dr. Narendra Bairwa, Asst.
