The School of Biotechnology (SoBT) at SMVD University (SMVDU), in collaboration with the DBT-PG Teaching Programme, organized a talk on sustainable agriculture and food security. Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, a distinguished professor at the Central University of Punjab in Bathinda, delivered the guest lecture. The lecture emphasized the "Proteomic and Metabolomic Reprogramming in Wheat by Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi.” Prof. Wusirika presented his research findings, highlighting the significant impact of plant growth-promoting bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on enhancing wheat plants' proteomic and metabolomic profiles. Dr. Sharada Potukuchi, Coordinator (DBT-PGT program), thanked the professor for sharing his knowledge. Participants had an opportunity to gain insights into agricultural research and the applications of microbial biotechnology in improving yield parameters in wheat, a staple crop. The lecture also explored the broader implications of this research for sustainable agriculture and food security. Dr. Satish Kumar Tiwari, an Assistant Professor at SMVD University, recently delivered a series of lectures during a week-long workshop organized by the Department of Philosophy at Lucknow University. The workshop, aimed at UGC-NET aspirants, took place from May 1, 2023, to May 6, 2023.During the workshop, Dr. Satish Tiwari provided valuable guidance to students, helping them understand the pattern of the UGC-NET exam, its syllabus, and the level of questions. He specifically covered various units of Philosophy Paper-2, including Logic, Indian Philosophy, Western Philosophy, and Indian Ethics.Dr. Satish Tiwari has been actively involved in assisting UGC-NET aspirants for the past decade, providing coaching services free of cost. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is the founder of "Bhartiya Darshnik Manch," a platform dedicated to bringing together researchers, faculties, and academicians in the field of Philosophy.The participation of Dr. Satish Tiwari in the workshop proved immensely beneficial to the UGC-NET aspirants, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and preparation strategies to excel in the upcoming examination. His selfless dedication to mentoring students and his contributions to the field of Philosophy through the establishment of the "Bhartiya Darshnik Manch" highlight his commitment to promoting academic growth and intellectual discourse.
A one-day national seminar on "Essentials of Product Development" was held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME) under the Faculty of Engineering at SMVDU organized the program. Dr. Ankush Anand, Associate Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, acted as the coordinator of the seminar and briefed all participants about its objectives. The program aimed to provide exposure to emerging trends and technologies used by product designers worldwide. Over 100 participants from various engineering institutes within and outside J&K registered for the seminar. Prof. Eswaramurthy, Head of SME, was the chief guest during the inaugural session of the seminar. He motivated the students to learn new techniques of product development. The seminar featured a series of expert talks by faculty members from institutes of national importance who discussed various aspects of product development in the current scenario. The seminar gave participants the opportunity to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, concerns, practical challenges encountered, and the solutions adopted in the field of engineering design. Dr. Ankush Raina, Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, served as the co-coordinator of the program and presented the vote of thanks. Shankaracharya Jayanti was celebrated by the School of Philosophy & Culture, SMVDU. Dr. Anil K. Tewari, Assistant Professor SoPC gave an introductory speech. Dr. A. K. Sharma was the Chief Guest. The day was celebrated by showing a documentary titled Kalady: the triumph of faith over time (rediscovery of Sri Adi Shankaracharya’s birth place). Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti is celebrated on Panchami Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha month. Shankaracharya is known for his teachings on Advaita Veddanta, which emphasizes the unity of the individual self (atman) with the universal consciousness (Brahman). The documentary discussed the importance of the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya. It shed light on the four peeths which are located in the four corners of India – Sringeri in South, Dwarka in the west, Puri in the east and Joshimath in the north. The main discussion was about history of acquiring Kalady and relocating Shankaracharya’s home and related places. It also discussed his life story and the incidents which encouraged him to observe Sannyasa. Students from various branches attended the celebration. Guest faculties of Vedic Studies, Mr. Keshav Kumar Pandey, Mr. Krishna Kumar Pandey and Dr. Chandra Shekhar Mishra explained Shankaracharya’s philosophy. Mr. Sumantha Sarthi Sharma discussed a few questions related to the importance of Advaita Vedanta Philosophy in present time. In the end, the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi.
SMVDU Katra organized mini marathon against drug abuse to celebrate 100th episode of Mann ki Baat. NSS unit and Board for Sports Activities organized the mini marathon in University premises. Around 100 participants participated in the event enthusiastically. NSS volunteers Awanish and Mehak also shared their thoughts on drug abuse. Refreshments and cash prizes provided by President, Hindustan Scouts and Guides NGO were also distributed to the participants. After the mini marathon event live Telecast of 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat was organized in a lecture Hall. Students listened thoughts shared by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. NSS coordinators Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Kamaldeep, BSA President, Dr. Parvez Salathia and other faculty and staff members including Dr. Indu Bhushan, Dr. Amit Sinha, Dr. Neeraj Tripathi, Dr. Vikram Singh, Mr. Avdhesh Gupta, Mr. Gaurav, Mr. Sanjeev Vadawan, Mr. Sumit Sharma were also present during the event. Vice chancellor Prof. R. K. Sinha congratulated all participants for attending the celebration events on the historic occasion.
